Historic Jamestowne preserves the site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Yorktown Battlefield is the site of the last major battle of the American Revolution and is operated by the National Park Service. At the visitor center are film and museum exhibits, including George Washington's original tents from the battle. A driving tour through the surrounding battlefields examines fortifications, cannons, and historic buildings. Nearby Yorktown features a dozen homes of the Revolutionary era. Park Rangers guide daily tours of the battlefield and town.
